The Midland Valley Area
Sweet Potato Festival
Welcome one and all to the Annual Sweet Potato Festival! We are glad that you took the time to come celebrate with us this year. The Jacksonville Community Commission, Inc. and friends thank you for the support you have shown over these many years. The Festival keeps growing due to your continued support. We ask that you continue to make the CSRA a better place for us all to live and work!
Many of our local (Greater Midland Valley Area) and CSRA businesses, organizations, and individuals that appear in our booklet have purchased ads, given donations, and provided goods and services towards the success of the Sweet Potato Festival fundraiser. Please help us thank them by patronizing their businesses and by visiting booths today. With your support, we are happy to provide this great day of family fun! This Festival Celebration is filled with many exciting and interesting activities planned just for you! We encourage you to enjoy the entertainment, vendor booths of arts and crafts, games, carnival rides, community service tables, and delicious variety of foods. Of course, sampling the various delectable sweet potato delights is an absolute must! Don't forget to purchase your fresh greens, fresh sweet potatoes and our famous sweet potato pies.
As with other nonprofit organization, our purpose is to serve the community. It is with funds from the festival and other fundraising activities that we are able to do this. In recent years the Commission has been able to: 1) Payoff the balance of the purchase of an additional 2.59 acres of land joining the Jacksonville Community Park; 2) Purchased and placed three signs in the Jacksonville Community, two new Community Welcome Signs and one Jacksonville Park Welcome Sign; 3 ) We were also able to have a parking area graded, prepared, and fenced in our recently purchased addition, added at the parking lot a memorial that includes a brick planter, plaque, and memorial sign and a Safety Light at the corner of Lee Drive and Huber Clay Road. In 2004 we received generous donations that provided for a commercial baking oven to assist us in festival preparation and other community service activities. In January 2005 we unveiled and dedicated a historical marker at the old school. As you can see, your support makes all the difference in what we are able to do. As always, please share your ideas towards making the Sweet Potato Festival a better event. It is our pleasure to continue the spirit of volunteerism as we serve the Midland Valley Area and surrounding CSRA Communities.
May God Richly Bless each of you! Thank You for Your Support and Prayers!
