Langley Pond

Langley Pond
is the fastest growing rowing venue in the southeast.  As a matter of fact, it is the only Olympic size course in South Carolina.   Visitors from all over the world compete in national and regional competitions annually.   It is the world's largest pond measuring just a few inches short of being a lake!   The pond is the perfect place to waterski, jet ski, swim, fish, picnic or have your companys' annual event.   Complete with a bathhouse, concession stand, boat ramp, special events area, swim area and dock, you are sure to find pleasure along the banks or in the water!   Remember Langley Pond when planning an event or just to get away! It is conveniently located off Hwy. 1 Midland Valley High School and Langley crossing and has plenty of parking.

How It All Began
This man-made water resource was originally constructed to aid area mills.   Over the years, it has become a great place for fishing and boating.   Langley Pond as a rowing venue was "discovered" when former United States Olympic coach, Igor Grinko found himself searching for a practice area before the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, Ga.   Grinko was unhappy with the swift current of the Savannah River, where the team had been practing, so he pulled out a map to see if there were other possibilities.   He spotted a long, finger-shaped body of water, pointed to it and said "there!"   The wheels began to roll, and Langley Pond became the home practice facility of the US Rowing Team for the next 5 years, until the team moved to California.

Recreation onLangley Pond is endless.   It is open dawn 'till dusk, free of charge for fishing, boating, sunbathing or swimming.   Please note that there are no lifeguards on duty.   The Pond is open to all water activity so you must be careful and courteous of others. A beautiful white sandy beach has recently been added for your convenience both on the bank and in the water at the swim area.
The pond is closed when a special event such as jet ski races, boat race, festival, regatta or water ski show is taking place.

Updates To The Pond
Langley Pond is better than ever !! The additions of a bath house, swim area, a sandy beach, special events area, concessions stand, picnic shelter, sound system, playground, expanded parking and landscaping are amenities that no other venue has in the southeast. We are proud of the progress that Aiken County has been able to offer her citizens and rowing community.

Look no further for the perfect special event location. Langley Pond is the best facility of its kind. We will be happy to assist you with planning your company function and personal needs. If you are looking for a nice place to relax, enjoy the sun, swim, boat or fish... you have found it at Langley Pond.
